Rho Xi Nu Chapter's work going forward is organized around a single guiding theme:
This theme reflects who we are as a chapter: a body of Omega Men strengthened by the fellowship of both our year-round membership and the many Omega Men who spend time on the Vineyard each summer, directed outward toward measurable impact in our community and within the Fraternity.
“Leveraging Our Fellowship for the Greater Good of Our Community and the Brotherhood”
To carry out our strategy, Rho Xi Nu Chapter has established a committee structure through which every Omega Man can plug in and contribute. Standing committees include Membership, Programs (including the Omega Bridge Youth Mentoring Initiative), Finance, Fellowship & Hospitality, Communications, Economic & Empowerment, and Social Action & Community Service.
Two of these committees deserve particular emphasis, precisely because they are distinct from one another in both direction and purpose.
The Economic & Empowerment Committee is inward-facing. It exists as a standing forum where Omega Men themselves bring forward and pursue ideas for leveraging the collective Rho Xi Nu network for personal and group benefit — economic opportunity, real estate and investment pursuits, and career advancement among our own membership. We believe no other chapter is positioned, as we are, to turn a summer influx of accomplished professional Omega Men into a standing engine for our own members' economic advancement, and that is what makes this committee a true differentiator for Rho Xi Nu.
The Social Action & Community Service Committee, by contrast, is outward-facing, oriented toward Dukes County residents rather than toward our own membership. This committee addresses housing instability, food insecurity, youth and workforce retention, and cultural-historical engagement in Oak Bluffs — realities that are often masked by the island's favorable aggregate statistics but felt acutely by year-round residents.
Together, these two committees give Rho Xi Nu a deliberate, two-directional approach: the Economic & Empowerment Committee building opportunity within our own ranks, and the Social Action & Community Service Committee extending service out into the community we call home.
Community Partners
We seek to develop substantive and sustainable relationships with organizations on Martha’s Vineyard to address the most pressing needs of Island residents including housing, youth development and exposure and food insecurity. Some of those potential partners include the following:
Island Housing Trust
Martha's Vineyard Regional High School
Island Grown Initiative
African American Heritage Trail
Vernon Jordan Science Center

Founded in 1911 at Howard University, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is the first international fraternal organization founded on the campus of a historically Black college. The fraternity's Cardinal Principles — Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift — guide its programs and community service across its chapters worldwide.
